Pamela Joy M. Mariano is about to finish her Master’s degree in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University, with a thesis on Charles Taylor’s politics of recognition. Her interests are in political and social philosophy as well as in development work. After four years as a lecturer for undergraduate philosophy courses in Ateneo de Manila, she has recently shifted to the field of development, and will presently be a program officer for Jesuit Volunteers Philippines, the longest-running long-term volunteer corps in the Philippines.
