Professor Rick Glofcheski obtained his BA and LLB in Canada, and his LLM at Cambridge University, England. After practising law in Canada, mainly in civil litigation, he joined the University of Hong Kong. His primary areas of teaching and research are tort law, labour and employment law and teaching and learning in higher education. He has also taught criminal law, contract law, legal system, and medical law. He is the General Editor of Hong Kong Law Journal, a peer-reviewed journal. He is a Panel Member of the Bar Association Qualification Committee. He was Head of the Department of Law from 1996-99. He is the author of Tort Law in Hong Kong (Hong Kong: Sweet and Maxwell Asia, 2nd edn, 2007, 735 pp), and co-editor (with Farzana Aslam) of Employment Law and Practice in Hong Kong (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, October 2010, 900 pp). In 2004, Rick was selected for the award of University Teaching Fellow. In 2009 Rick was selected for the University Outstanding Teaching Award. In 2010, Rick was selected for the first ever University Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2011, Rick was selected for the first ever Hong Kong-wide University Grants Committee Teaching Excellence Award, in recognition of outstanding teaching and his leadership and contributions to the advancement of teaching and learning. In 2011 Rick was co-winner of the University Research Output Prize for Employment Law and Practice in Hong Kong.
