Athena Nga-chee Liu, Associate Professor, was born and bred in Hong Kong, she read law at Manchester Polytechnic (England).  With the support of two scholarships, she completed her Ph.D at Glasgow University (Scotland).  A barrister of the Hong Kong Bar and the Middle Temple (England), she commenced her teaching career at the Law Department in 1987, and specialises in Family Law and Medico-legal Issues. 

She is the author of Artificial Reproduction and Reproductive Rights (Dartmouth Publishing, 1991), Family Legal Practice Manual (Sweet & Maxwell, 1998), Family Law: A Text for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region  (Hong Kong University Press, 1999).  She is also a contributor to articles in the Journal of Medical Ethics, Journal of Family Law, Hong Kong Law Journal and the Asia Pacific Law Review

She enjoys reading children’s story books to her two girls and play racket sports (tennis and particularly table-tennis) and swimming.
