Syren Johnstone

Syren Johnstone is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong. He is active both as an educator and in the commercial sector.

As an educator he teaches Securities Regulation, and Mergers & Acquisitions courses as part of the LLM programme at the University of Hong Kong, and Listed Companies as part of the PCLL programme. In 2006 he co-authored "Financial Markets in Hong Kong: Law and Practice" published by Oxford University Press. He is currently engaged in various other education-related concerns including serving as a Consultant for the Hong Kong Securities Institute.

A practising solicitor with Linklaters (admitted England 1993, Hong Kong 1994), he subsequently took up the role as Regional Head of Legal for Banco Santander before joining Societe Generale as Director and Regional Head (Asia) of Transaction Management where he was licensed with the SFC as responsible for Equity Corporate Finance. He currently is a Director of a boutique corporate finance and financial services company based in Singapore.
