Mr. Charles Lam is a seasoned executive with a breadth of experience in banking and financial services, financial regulation, compliance, dispute resolution and executive training. He has over 20 years of senior management experience working as CEO, COO, CIO and managing director at several major multi-national corporations and financial institutions. Some of the banks and financial institutions Charles had worked for include ABN AMRO, Credit Suisse First Boston, HSBC and National Australia Bank. His footprints span across different financial services segments - from Corporate, Institutional and Investment to Retail and Ultra/High Net-worth clients. Charles has extensive experience in dealing with regulators and officials with many successful track records in helping multi-national financial institutions to build and expand their presence and business around the globe. He is also very active in giving advices to clients on regulatory matters, compliance, dispute resolution and growth opportunities. Throughout his career, Charles has executed hundreds of negotiation deals/transactions, and was one of the key members involving in several corporation mergers and acquisitions.
In addition to teaching at universities, Charles has lots of experience in public speaking and training at the media, professional associations, major international corporations and financial institutions around the globe. He is also featured on television programs and contributes articles on newspapers and professional journals.
Charles is the designer of the LLM/JD Course “Law and Regulation of Private Banking and Wealth Management”, and he is currently co-lecturing with Professor Say Goo. In addition, Charles is one of the developers of the “Certificate in Compliance, Ethics and Regulation for Private Banking and Wealth Management Professionals” with AIIFL & CLLC, and is co-teaching with Professor Douglas Arner, Professor Say Goo and among other experienced professionals from the industry. Charles is good at bringing hands-on practical experience into classrooms.
Charles is a Member of CEDR Asia Pacific Practice Group and panel mediators of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) and Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. He is also Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Member of British Institute of Facilities Management and Fellow of The Chartered Institute of IT (BCS) UK.
