HKU Graduate Wins Rhodes Scholarship 2015

Geoffrey Yeung Ka Wei has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship 2015 for Hong Kong. The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious academic awards in the world. Each year, an outstanding applicant from Hong Kong is selected on the basis of intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service. He will join 82 other Rhodes Scholars from around the world to study at the University of Oxford.

Apart from his exceptional academic results, Geoffrey impressed the selection committee with his energy and personal commitment to working with disadvantaged members of society. “What is important is to show your vision and passion in leading and bringing changes to society.” He would like to be a human rights lawyer in the future so as to bridge marginalized groups and society. He plans to pursue the Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford starting in October 2015.
