The Faculty organizes annually, through its Mooting Committee, a compulsory mooting programme for upper year students and voluntary moots for first and second year students. The internal mooting programme is one of the most challenging and important activities in the Faculty.
The compulsory moots are held at the High Court with legal practitioners and Faculty staff acting as judges. Sixteen of the best mooters are then chosen to participate in a competition round which is usually judged by members of the Hong Kong judiciary. The four best mooters then proceed to the Grand Final to compete for the Hong Kong Bar Association Cup. The grand finalists also receive prizes from the firm, Deacons. The Deacons Cup also goes to the best mooter.
