Abstract:
Guided by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the International Organization for Mediation fills the institutional void in international mediation, delivers vital rule-of-law public goods and offers Chinese wisdom for conflict resolution compatible with modern global governance. Talent training serves as the core pillar for its sustainable development. Drawing on Hong Kong’s sound legal environment, local universities such as HKU offer relevant programs and conduct in-depth academic research. These efforts will build a solid and long-term mediation system and further consolidate Hong Kong’s status as an international hub for global dispute mediation.

Dr Zhang sits on the UN Academic Council expert panel and formerly advised NYU’s European Horizons Program.
