About the Speaker:
Professor Payam Akhavan LLM SJD (Harvard) OOnt FRSC is the Human Rights Chair and Senior Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto, Member of the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in London, Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and Associate Member of the Institut de droit international. He is a noted scholar and practitioner of international law, and appeared as counsel to the Commission of Small Island States on Climate Change and International Law (COSIS) in the historic advisory proceedings before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
