Biography

吳博士是一位專攻中國和香港法律史的法律史學家。他的最新研究專著 “Political Censorship in British Hong Kong: Freedom of Expression and the Law (1842–1997)” (劍橋大學出版社) 廣泛利用解密檔案資料，挑戰了廣為接受的關於香港言論自由是英式法治遺產的觀點，並主張香港的新聞自由、言論自由和司法獨立是英國對華政策和地緣政治的產物。吳博士還撰寫了”Legal Transplantation in Early 20th Century China: Practicing Law in Republican Beijing (1910s-1930s)” (Routledge), 並共同主編了”Chinese Legal Reform and the Global Legal Order: Adoption and Adaptation” (劍橋大學出版社) 和”Constitutional Foundings in Northeast Asia” (Hart)。他的研究論文發表在領先的法學和歷史學國際期刊如Law and History Review, Modern Asian Studies, Business History Review，Law and Literature 和International Journal of Asian Studies等。他曾被任命為劍橋大學，墨爾本大學，復旦大學和新加坡國立大學的訪問學者，以及國立台灣大學的訪問副教授。

在2012年加入香港大學之前，吳博士在法律和金融領域工作了15年。作為一名事務律師，吳博士專門處理商業法律事務。離開法律行業後，他在一家上市的跨國公司擔任首席投資官和財務總監，專注於亞洲的併購交易。他還擔任一家私募股權基金管理公司的合夥人和首席財務官。
