Biography
Vivian coordinates and teaches Civil Litigation and Professional Practice & Management core courses for the PCLL, and the Civil Procedure elective for the LLB/JD programmes.
Prior to taking up the role of Senior Lecturer in 2025, Vivian was a part-time lecturer since 2015, during which she was involved in teaching, course development and assessment design.
Vivian currently serves as a Programme Director and member of the Academic Board for the PCLL and is keenly focused on enhancing the programme’s effectiveness in equipping students with practical tools for the legal profession.
Vivian studied mainly overseas and holds double degrees in Law and Business (Finance) from the University of New South Wales and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. She subsequently returned to her homeland in Hong Kong to complete the PCLL at the University of Hong Kong and was admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong.
Complementing her academic work, Vivian is the founder and principal of Vivian Chan Law Office (since 2015) and a Consultant at William W. L. Fan & Co. (since 2023), where she maintains an active practice in civil/commercial litigation and commercial law.
Beyond her professional life, Vivian is an active volunteer and Rotarian. She has served as President of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Financial Centre and as Assistant Governor for Rotary International District 3450 amongst other roles and is a volunteer legal consultant of the Registered Specialist Trade Contractors Federation. At home, she is cherished by two rescue dogs who never see her enough.
