I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Professor Peter Rhodes, a well-respected and extremely popular Dean of the Faculty of Law. I was most fortunate to have been taught by him on International Trade Law during his Deanship in 1989 -1990. My keen interest in Chinese law and international business and trade law was nurtured by Professor Rhodes, who inspired me to qualify into the legal practice of commercial law and banking law. Professor Rhodes’ foresight into the significance of Hong Kong-trained lawyers for the continued success of the Mainland subsequently paved the way for my pursuit of dual-legal qualification in Hong Kong and the Mainland. I still remember how patient and generous he was in sharing his time and knowledge with students. Hong Kong’s legal education would not be so acclaimed without his remarkable contributions. Professor Rhodes will always be dearly remembered. My deepest condolences to his family.
