| Summary of treaty: | "This Convention aimes to promote the development and safety of international road |
| traffic by establishing uniform rules concerning motorists and their vehiciles, cyclists and |
| pedestrians and road signs and signals. There are 10 Annexes dealing with detailed rules, |
| international distinguishing signs, model forms of driving permit etc.... The Convention |
| terminated the 1926 International Convention Relative to Motor Traffic (108 LNTS 123) as |
| between the parties to both. The same is true for the 1926 International Convention |
| Relative to Road Traffice (97 LNTS 83). The 1949 Convention is terminated by the 1968 |
| Convention on Road Traffic (1042 UNTS 17) as between the parties to both." (source: |
