Eric Tat-ming Cheung was born and educated in Hong Kong. Upon obtaining his PCLL in 1987, he joined Messrs. Johnson Stokes & Master, the largest law firm in Hong Kong, as a trainee solicitor. Upon his admission as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong in October 1989, he worked as a litigation solicitor at Johnson Stokes & Master. He was admitted as a partner of the same firm in October 1994. His areas of work include building and town planning appeals, judicial reviews, solicitors' indemnity claims, building and construction litigation, and general banking and commercial litigation. He joined the University of Hong Kong in December 1996 as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Professional Legal Education. In recent years, he coordinates and teaches in the Civil Procedure course. He is a part-time Consultant to Messrs Or, Ng & Chan.
