*Martha Root (1872–1939) was an influential American journalist, author, and Bahá’í educator known for her global advocacy for peace, women’s rights, and social justice. While in Hong Kong, she met with prominent figures including Dr. Sun Yat Sen and the founder of HKU, Sir Hormusji Mody, Kt. In 1924.
