Book Launch
Hong Kong Private International Law
29 April 2025 (Tuesday), 6:00–7:00 PM
Academic Conference Room, 11/F Cheng Yu Tung Tower, The University of Hong Kong
Private international law in Hong Kong aptly illustrates how this subject as practised and studied in this place can no longer rely solely on English case law and academic literature. The interactions of Hong Kong courts with various common law and civil law approaches (whether they converge, diverge or contradict with one another) have frequently tested the boundaries of the subject. Moreover, questions concerning inter-regional private international law have consistently arisen for court adjudication and legislative intervention. The book seeks to examine these topics systematically.
Both authors will address how Hong Kong private international law has responded or should respond to pressing real-world cross-border legal problems, in light of the plurality of laws and legal systems. More information about the book is available here.
