This lecture will explore the remarkable development of equity in recent years in providing remedies to tackle both novel and age-old issues. With particular reference to recent UK Supreme Court and Privy Council case law, the lecture will discuss the functions served by equity in the modern age, and the influential role that other common law jurisdictions play in the development of equitable remedies. The lecture will also consider limitations on equity’s international reach, and the ways in which this may be addressed in future.
