7th Asia Pacific Enterprise M&A Mooting Competition

The 7th Asia Pacific Enterprise M&A Mooting Competition was held at Tsinghua University in Beijing on 23-26 March. Conducted entirely in Chinese (Putonghua), this competition pits a total of twelve top law schools from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in corporate merger negotiation based entirely on real-life companies.

As the sole representative from Hong Kong, HKU sent a team of 6 students, Chen Shao Xiong, Joseph (BSS(G&L)/LLB); Cheung Ka Yan, Sharon (PCLL); Ma Chun Long, Jasper (PCLL); Qi Ziqi (JD); Xu Qi, Echo (LLM(CFL)); and Yu Qiufan, Aki (BA & LLB), that broadly represent the fascinatingly diverse programs and background of our student population.

The HKU team performed well in the competition, obtaining the Best Merger Memorandum prize. Qi Ziqi won the best individual performance among the HKU team, and Ma Chun Long was elected best team member.
