Visitors from Faculties outside Hong Kong

The Faculty has great pleasure in welcoming to HKU:

 

Gary Bell, from the National University of Singapore, who visits us from 20 January – 2 February, and 17-25 February 2016. He is an expert on Comparative Legal Traditions, International Sale of Goods and Indonesian Law.

Andew Byrnes, from University of New South Wales, who visited us from 3-26 January 2016 and gave guest seminars on “Human rights: History, Theory and Politics”.

Mindy Chen-Wishart, from Oxford University, as the Cheng Yu Tung Visiting Professor. She taught the course “Contract Law” to our JD students during 728 September 2015.

The Faculty also hosted for the first time, Stefan Enchelmaier, from Oxford University, as the Des Voeux Chambers Visitor. He is also an articles editor of the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. 

Richard Holt, from University of Surrey, who visited the Faculty and taught the course “Trusts in Practice” during the period of 5-26 September 2015.  

Nick McBride, from Cambridge University, who taught two JD courses, “Tort” and “Legal Research and Methods” during his visit from 8 August – 26 September 2015.

Phillip Morgan, from the University of York, who delivered seminars on “Tort” to our JD students from 21 – 31 October 2015.

Richard Nolan, from the University of York, who taught the course, “Trusts in Practice” for undergraduates from 27 August – 19 September 2015.

Francis Reynolds, from the University of Oxford, who visits us from 16 January to 5 March 2016 to teach the course “Carriage of Goods by Sea”. 

J M Scherpe, from the University of Cambridge, who gave lectures on “Comparative Family Law” from 24 August – 10 September 2015.

Wei Shen is the KoGuan Chair Professor of Law at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, who taught “Law and Regulation of Banking and Insurance in PRC” from 3-19 January 2016.

Paul Sumpter, from the University of Auckland, who gave lectures on “Patent Law” from 28 January – 7 February 2016.

David Tan, from the National University of Singapore, who gave an intensive course on “Entertainment Law: Popular Iconography & the Celebrity” to our postgraduate students from 24 August – 4 September 2015.

Michael Palmer, from Shantou University Law School, who taught an Advanced Seminar on Chinese Law from 15 October to 31 December 2015.

Zhiyong Zhang, from Peking University Law School, who gave lectures on China Investment from 3 – 23 January 2016.
