Hon Ming Edmond SY

Mr. Sy is a local student with a research interest in Hong Kong Basic Law and political issues in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Management degrees at Tsinghua University. The dissertation of his LLB degree was “The Criminal Jurisdiction Dispute of Hong Kong Co-location Arrangement”. During his four-year studies at Tsinghua University, he was awarded the Lee Shau Kee Scholarship (a full scholarship with merit scholarship) (2016-2020), Wang Han Bin Scholarship (2019), Scholarship for Students of Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (First Prize) (2017, 2019) and Santander Scholarship (2019). Mr. Sy obtained his Master of Laws degree at Georgetown University with Distinction and part of the Dean’s List.

Before he started his Ph.D. studies at the University of Hong Kong, Mr. Sy worked as a guest researcher in a local think tank called One Country Two Systems Youth Forums. He is also a columnist in several Chinese and English newspapers like Ming Pao and China Daily.
