About the lecture

This lecture will consider the history and jurisprudence of parliamentary sovereignty, explaining the doctrine’s place in the British constitutional tradition and addressing the challenges that it has faced and faces now. The lecture will reflect in particular on the relationship between parliamentary sovereignty and the (changing) shape of the political community and the supposed tension between parliamentary sovereignty and the rule of law.
